Carter Copeland serves as President of Melius Research, where he is also the lead research analyst covering the global aerospace and defense sector.

Institutional Investor magazine has recognized Mr. Copeland every year since taking over lead coverage responsibility, including a #2 rank in 2017.

Prior to Melius Research, Mr. Copeland served as a Managing Director and senior analyst covering aerospace and defense for both Barclays Plc and Lehman Brothers. Prior to that, Mr. Copeland worked at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington D.C., where he served as an assistant to the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC). He is a regular contributor to CNBC, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.

Mr. Copeland is co-author of the critically acclaimed book, “Lessons from the Titans” which chronicles success and failure in industrial America over the past half century. Mr. Copeland graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Economics and a minor in Computer Science. He received an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and is a CFA Charterholder.
