Karen Short

Managing Director – Head of Consumer/Retail Research

Karen Short serves as a Managing Director and Head of Consumer/Retail Research at Melius Research, and is the lead research analyst for Food, Hardlines and Broadlines Retailing. 

Throughout her 25+ year career on Wall Street, Ms. Short has been ranked number one, two or three in Institutional Investor magazine ten times.  Prior to Melius Research, Ms. Short was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse, Barclays Plc and Deutsche Bank for 10 years. She started her equity research career in 1999 at Lehman Brothers. Prior to her career in equity research, Ms. Short spent five years in Energy sales and trading. 

Ms. Short serves on the Board of Swiftly, an innovative platform that enables retailers to engage with today’s shopper. She also serves as an advisor to Inner Immersion, an organization committed to ensuring over-burdened, vulnerable, and at-risk populations have the opportunity to experience wellness. 

Ms. Short earned her B.A. from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
