The big picture upside for Trimble is that it has leading positions in two separate trillion-dollar markets that are highly underpenetrated in software and digital: construction and transportation (and some might add agriculture as a third leg, which is large and highly underpenetrated for digital, but we think the road is a little tougher there for Trimble).
This acquisition of Kuebix helps Trimble tie together its transportation assets, pushing it closer to being able to provide a comprehensive platform to make the US transportation industry more efficient. Trimble has had strong positions with carriers/truckers and 3rd party logistics providers who carry the nation’s goods. Its current offerings cover mapping and routing, Electronic Logging Devices used by truckers to improve fleet efficiency, and backbone IT systems that allow for running the businesses, while improving tracking and measurement of operations.
